The review meeting aimed to select the winners for the 2022 ACM China Rising Star Award and Doctoral Dissertation Award, who are young scholars and outstanding PhD students respectively that have made outstanding achievements in the field of computer science. Junzhou Luo, Professor of Southeast University and Co-Chair of the ACM China Council Awards Committee, and Fan Wu, Professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Vice-Chair of the ACM China Council, co-chaired the meeting. After the preliminary recommendation and formal examination, ACM China Council received a total of 65 applications from 23 regional chapters and 15 professional chapters (of which each chapter/SIG recommended no more than one candidate for the Rising Star Award and Doctoral Dissertation Award respectively for the national review). In the correspondence evaluation stage, all applicants were divided into five groups, including artificial intelligence and multimedia, database and data mining, system architecture and system software, wireless network and mobile computing, and information security and crossover, and a number of well-known experts were invited for correspondence evaluation, of which the top 5 were selected for each award, and a total of 10 candidates entered the final defense session. The defense judging session for the Rising Star Award and Doctoral Dissertation Award invited the chairs/vice chairs/general secretaries of regional and professional chapters as expert judges, including 20 offline judges and 17 online judges (as shown in Table 1, in alphabetical order by last name). During the evaluation process, each candidate reported and defended from the aspects of basic personal information, academic innovation achievements and future research plans, and was questioned by the expert judges. After a fierce competition, it was unanimously decided that Yuanjie Li (Tsinghua University) and Yu Zhang (Huazhong University of Science and Technology) would receive the 2022 ACM China Rising Star Award and Yan Meng (Shanghai Jiao Tong University) and Xupeng Miao (Peking University) would receive the 2022 ACM China Doctoral Dissertation Award, respectively (see Tables 2 and 3 for details), for their outstanding performance in basic theoretical or applied fundamental research and academic impact in computer science and technology and related fields. The awarding ceremony for the awards will be held during the ACM Turing Conference in China (ACM TURC 2023) in Wuhan in July 2023.
